Devil May Care

Genre: Romance, Comedy

Welcome to the most charitable part-time job you've ever seen. Or most devious, depending on which shoulder you're standing on. A guardian angel without a shred of empathy and a devil with a chronic case of kindness must figure out a way to share their assignments without upending the entire system.

Duke Stewart has been crafting comics since high school, infusing his work with humor and heart. He has created three successful webcomics, spending all his free time crafting them. He hopes to one day make a living from them, and his foray into StoryCo is another step in that direction. His comedy-focused approach and the sitcom format of "Devil May Care" make it perfect for our dynamic multimedia platform.

Why We Picked It: Rory's comedy-focused approach and the sitcom/romcom format of "Devil May Care" immediately stood out to us. The story’s engaging characters and humorous narrative seem perfect for a dynamic multimedia experience (and ultimately an animated sitcom) making it an ideal fit for our platform.

Planetarium

Genre: Romance, Fantasy

“Sometimes the smallest light shines the brightest" The universe is a big place and no one understands this more than Luna: The new spirit in charge of the Earth Moon and now newest employee of Solar System Corp. The biggest company this side of the Milky Way. But as she treads through this new world of Corporate Space life surrounded by both allies and enemies alike as well as the biggest hot head of them all, Sol, it leaves the question: Will Luna's light ultimately be bright enough?

Celia Balos (Balce) and Carrie Linden (CarrieDreamer) met in an online fan community when Balce was looking for a writer to bring to life an idea for a Webtoon called The Underdog. This Webtoon would prove to be the start of their creative collaboration; years later, inspired by Balce's upbringing in Romania and love of Romanian poetry (as well as by their shared love of American TV shows and movies) she and Carrie hatched the idea for Planetarium. Fast forward three years later and Planetarium is a thriving web comic with millions of views and nearly 100K subscribers, with the roles firmly established with Carrie serving as the story's lead writer and Balce creating the story's visual world.

Why We Picked It: The unique concept of personifying planets and the expansive world-building in "Planetarium" drew us in. The story's origin, including the creators' meeting in an online fan community, added a heartwarming touch and making it a perfect addition to StoryCo. Additionally, the creators were willing to be the very first people to upload their stories to our platform and use our tooling, providing invaluable feedback to our product team as they honed in on the tooling for the rest of the cohort.

Children of Eldair

Genre: Fantasy, Drama

After finding a girl being attacked by demons, Koe tries to help her find her friends using magic. Instead he ends up trapped in a vision of the past where he witnesses the events of the past year. Can he use the knowledge of the past to save his world from a dark future?

Jemma Young grew up on a small farm in Utah and has been drawing comics since she was eight. During her second year in college, she began working on Children of Eldair, making the first sixteen pages for her senior project. She enjoyed it so much that she decided to turn it into a web comic, which has since ran for over 10 years with over 600 pages of content and over 150,000 subscribers online.

Jemma Young's Creator Profile

Why We Picked It: We were impressed by the depth and breadth of Jemma's storytelling in "Children of Eldair." Her dedication to Eldair over the past decade has resulted in a rich, detailed narrative, making it a standout story with immense potential on our platform.
