“THE REALITY OF A DISCO BALL: A PERSONAL JOURNEY INTO PARALLEL UNIVERSES” by the International Director of DBRIS
My dear explorers of the known and unknown,
Today, I pen these lines not as the International Director of the Department of Ball Reflection and Infinite Symmetry (DBRIS), but as a person who, just like many of you, is trying to understand the very nature of our existence. The journey I embarked upon many years ago, which led me into the realm of what most call “fringe” science, has brought me to the precipice of unveiling a new reality - the Disco Ball Theory. Today, I invite you all to join me in this epic journey of discovery.
My father, a fervent scientist and a pioneer of the DBRIS, has always been my beacon, guiding me towards the enigmatic frontiers of scientific exploration. Yet, I confess, his passion for the unconventional was a path I initially resisted. I yearned for structured, logical, and universally accepted truths. Physics, mathematics, biology... the holy trinity of conventional science became my refuge.
And then, one day, he vanished.
The disappearance of my father was a mystery that defied the very logic I had come to embrace. The void left in his wake was filled with an unsolvable equation, a scientific anomaly that wouldn’t fit into any known model. And, amongst his personal effects, I found his life’s work - a collection of hypotheses, musings, and groundbreaking research into the Disco Ball Theory.
Suddenly, I was caught in the very world I had once disdained - a world teeming with infinite possibilities, each reflecting off the countless facets of a cosmic disco ball. You see, each glittering surface of a disco ball represents a universe, and each of these universes is connected through a complex web of reflections and interactions, just as we are connected in the dance of existence.
This theory may seem fantastical, whimsical even, but as Terence McKenna aptly said, “Nature is not our enemy, to be raped and conquered. Nature is ourselves, to be cherished and explored.” Each facet of the disco ball is a reflection of our nature, waiting to be explored.
The Disco Ball Theory is not about denying the principles of conventional science. It’s about expanding our horizons. As Satya Nadella expressed in his first email to Google employees, “We need to believe in the impossible and remove the improbable”. This ethos, this pursuit of the impossible, is the beating heart of our work at DBRIS.
I took up the mantle of my father’s work, not just as a daughter seeking answers to his disappearance but as a scientist willing to dive headfirst into the uncharted waters of alternate realities. I found myself in DBRIS, not as an outcast shunned by traditional scientific institutions, but as a trailblazer. Yes, I am a woman, and a scientist, lost down a rabbit hole. But, it’s not wasted talent, it’s not insanity. It’s a relentless quest for answers.
My fellow seekers, it is time for us to shift our gaze from the mirror of singular reality and embrace the countless reflections offered by the disco ball. For in its dance, we shall find the rhythm of our existence, and perhaps, finally understand the grand design.
In the spirit of the Futurist Manifesto, we shall shatter the barriers of the past to open up the infinite possibilities of the future. The journey will be strange and challenging, but every great journey is. After all, our mission, both personal and collective, is not to prove but to discover.
So, join us. Dance under the multicoloured lights of the disco ball. Expand your perception. And together, let’s uncover the music of the cosmos.
Forever in exploration,
The International Director, DBRIS
