CREATIVE PROMPT
Taeru is a very serious, genetically enhanced super-soldier. He was four when he was accepted into the Daigen Project and has been raised as a highly efficient soldier and killer. As a soldier, he’s been taught to mask all of his emotions and thus has a very stoic expression. Except when it comes to Naia - then aggravation and annoyance will sometimes poke through that flat expression he always seems to have. He is highly competent in hand-to-hand combat and the sword.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Character Notes:
Male, 18 years old, tenor or baritone. American or Japanese accent.
Performance Notes:
Despite being only 18, Taeru’s voice should have the weight of maturity only found through extreme training in the military and dark traumatic experience. The military project he comes from is Japanese but he also speaks English and galactic. As such, voice actors can opt to do their audition with a Japanese or American accent.
His diction should reflect his military experience. However his internal dialogue should reflect the subtleties of his humanity and emotion.

Scene 1:
Taeru: "Form up and move out. This area is compromised."
Argon: "If Sky is still alive, what does that mean?"
Hyperbola: "They told us she died on a mission!"
Taeru: "I don’t know!"
Taeru: "Right now we need to focus on getting our team out of the area and survive this battle. After that…"
Taeru looks determined.
Taeru: "After that, we find some way to get to her."
Scene 2:
Taeru looks up at Edith with a look of determination and a hint of pleading.
Taeru: "Please. Don’t send me back."
Taeru, intense and determined. Even though the words he is speaking are stoic and somewhat lacking in emotion, the thoughts that are being projected behind him give his internal emotions away and should reflect his desperation.
Taeru: "Please. I’ll do anything."
Internal dialogue: "Please. Save her. I have to save her. I can’t fail. I’ve already failed. Failure. You’re a failure."
Taeru: "Please."
Internal dialogue: "AM I ALREADY DEAD?"
Taeru will be saying a few Japanese sayings throughout the comic though they will be sparse. So I’d like to see if you can deliver a few lines in the language with a believable accent. Please refer to the audio file for pronunciation if you are unfamiliar with the language. If you are chosen to voice this character, I will be happy to coach you on a believable pronunciation on any Japanese lines during the project.

FINAL DELIVERABLES
The selected voice performer for this Co/Create will conduct a recording session to record the 121 lines written for Taeru in the first 14 chapters of Temerity (see the Temerity Webtoon for reference).
