Who is Kyle?
Kyle Killen's journey to becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought-after Showrunners in Hollywood was long and winding. He fell in love with writing at a young age, leading him to pursue his passion at USC film school. After graduation, he briefly chased his writing dreams in LA, but soon returned to Texas, his home state, finding the road to success as a Hollywood screenwriter fraught with challenges.
In Texas, Kyle worked various odd jobs, including as a construction worker and computer support technician, never abandoning his writing ambitions. He began with short stories, then attempted a novel, coinciding with his wife’s pregnancy with twins. Under the pressure of impending fatherhood, he transformed his novel into a screenplay.
A week before his twins were born, he completed the screenplay, which later became THE BEAVER. This tale of a depressed man who communicates through a beaver hand puppet was bought by ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND producer Steve Golin and starred Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster. Its premiere at the SXSW Film Festival and critical acclaim marked a turning point in his career.
Since then, Kyle has been the Showrunner and Executive Producer for several high-profile projects, such as LONE STAR on FOX, AWAKE MIND GAMES on ABC, and the acclaimed HALO series on Paramount+. His work, spanning various genres, reflects his willingness to take risks and push storytelling boundaries.
Thus, Kyle was perfect creative mind to partner with in the creation of THE DISCO BALL. His role involves not only penning the core characters and world, but doing so in a manner that sets the stage for a collaborative storytelling experience via StoryCo “Co/Create.”
Kyle’s involvement in this groundbreaking in our first project is a testament to his adaptability and eagerness to explore new frontiers in narrative creation, inviting creators to build on top of his story and fans to engage with the story in unprecedented ways.
